How Do You Ground Into Who You Are When You Forget?
In some ways, my car has been running but I haven’t been at the wheel. Last week I had a jolt from the universe that I’ve got to get my butt back in the driver’s seat of my life.
I want to normalize periods of time where we need to go inward, hermit, hibernate and be gentle with our precious selves.
And during those times, sometimes you need to phone it in. If you’re anything like me, you’re really hard on yourself for not showing up the way you know you can. (But also me giving 50% is often more than most giving their 100%, can you relate?).
And when I’m in my hermit phase I really struggle to share, write, pour out words because there simply are none. My inner world is rearranging, like the goo of a chrysalis. My favorite thing about a caterpillar is that it already has everything inside to become a butterfly but it first has to become a pile of goo before it’s reborn. I feel like that summarizes this recent season of my life. It’s been goo-ey.
And like, everything it too shall pass. Energy in motion.
Some things I’ve found to ground into who I am during this time are:
🔹Creating structure for myself in my schedule. I’ll schedule the individual steps of my morning routine in my calendar so that I don’t get lost in the vagueness of a block of time.
🔹Building strength in my body.
🔹Spending time with dear friends. I travelled around the country this summer to make sure I was surrounded by people who know me and love and could hold a mirror up so I could see the butterfly taking shape.
🔹Connecting to my sense of faith… goddess cards are often a portal to that for me.
How do you ground into who you are when you forget?
