When Women Are Called "Selfless" Like It's A Good Thing

When “selfless” is used as a compliment to describe a woman who cares for everyone else but herself I just wanna puke. As women we were often taught to put everyone’s needs ahead of ours all the time, and we’ve been REWARDED for our actions with terms like “selfless” and “superhero” when really those same people should be encouraging women to take “me time” to care for themselves for a change.

Because of this dynamic in society, it can be really hard for women to believe they are worthy and deserving of self love and self care because they’ve been conditioned that them caring for others = good. And caring for selves = bad. When really the opposite is true. When a woman cares for herself, all boats rise. Her energy because regenerative instead of drained out. When a women cares for herself, the world becomes a more loving place.

If you identify as a woman, you have to claim this for yourself. And it will feel big and scary because of all your conditioning.
